Peter Lang • Landslagið at the Fenna Wehlau Gallery

13. May 2026

The solo exhibition Peter Lang • Landslagið is on view at the gallery through May 8.

This Saturday, March 28, Ms. Oberschelp will be giving a guided tour of the exhibition.

In addition, Ms. Oberschelp will be giving a guided tour of the exhibition on the first Spring & Walk Saturday, April 25.

Light that transforms everything.
There are places that are not merely landscapes, but events. Hellissandur in Iceland is such a place. Here, at the foot of the imposing Snæfellsjökull volcano and the national park of the same name, stands Peter Lang’s studio house, from which he looks out over the long, narrow bay. It is the unique tension of this scenery: the cliffs, the sea beating against the rocks in an unceasing rhythm, and the light that defines nothing but transforms everything. Here Lang finds his inspiration, and here many of the works exhibited in the gallery were created.

An invitation to pause and reflect.
Peter Lang’s paintings draw the viewer into expansive chromatic spaces and invite immersion. Landscape appears not as a motif, but as a living fabric of interacting color harmonies. Using a flicking string, Lang sends pigments flying directly onto the canvas, creating lineaments that lend the composition a geometric order and opening up finely nuanced, colorful spaces of sculptural depth. Transitions from warm to cool colors create a sense of depth. The result is a contemplative space of color that invites us to slow down and experience the qualities of a more primal form of seeing.

About the gallery

Located in the Kunstareal, the Fenna Wehlau Gallery represents a diverse range of artistic positions that find expression in a harmonious interplay. The artists operate at the intersection of abstraction and reduced figuration, drawing inspiration from profound thematic connections to nature, music, and poetry.
A particular focus of the gallery’s work lies in the planning of site-specific installations (including works by Sheila Furlan and Andreas Kocks) and Land Art (Roger Rigorth).
Beyond its curated solo and group exhibitions, the gallery sees itself as a vibrant meeting place and organizes artist talks, salon concerts, and performances.

We view artistic creation as a direct dialogue with the surroundings, both indoors and outdoors.

The gallery’s artistic portfolio is regularly showcased at major art fairs such as Art Karlsruhe, Positions, and the Roter Kunstsalon.
The gallery’s dynamic program encompasses the classical genres of painting (e.g., Eberhard Ross, Margit Hartnagel, Peter Lang, Friederike Walter), works on paper (including Andreas Kocks, Christine Brunella), sculpture (including Jörg Bach, Paul Diestel, Stephan Wurmer), and textile art (Sheila Furlan, Susanne Thiemann).

Im Jahr 2027 feiert die Galerie ihr 10-jähriges Bestehen – gestartet wird im Januar mit einer Einzelausstellung des Künstlers, mit dem alles begann: Eberhard Ross.
