SPOTLIGHT ON
Schmuck 2026
SCHMUCKmünchen 2026 will take place from March 4 to 8 as part of the International Craft Fair (IHM) at the Munich Exhibition Center (Hall B1). As the world’s oldest special exhibition for contemporary jewelry (since 1959), it showcases pioneering goldsmithing.
Parallel to this, the “1st International Summit of Jewelry Classes” will take place on March 6 at the Pinakothek der Moderne. Over 40 international jewelry classes will present pop-up exhibitions.
Munich Jewellery Week 2026: In addition to the IHM, Jewellery Week offers numerous independent exhibitions and events throughout the city – jewelry exhibitions can be found in several galleries: AkademieGalerie, KUNZT66, Ping Rodach contemporary, Smudajescheck Galerie, Gudrun Spielvogel Galerie & Edition, Galerie Wittenbrink. There will also be a tour on Saturday that focuses on jewelry.
On the occasion of International Jewelry Week in Munich, Galerie Wittenbrink is exhibiting works by its jewelry artists.

What has long been separated—art and craft—may now casually meet again. Not programmatically, but rather as a matter of course. Designer jewelry has been part of my gallery’s program since I started; perhaps because body and spirit have never been opposites.

SAM THO DUONG is the CURATOR 2026 of Schmuck münchen and is also holding an exhibition at Galerie Ping Rodach. Sam Tho Duong is one of the defining voices in contemporary jewelry. With his experimental approach, he transforms natural finds and everyday materials into poetic, precisely crafted works.
For SCHMUCKmünchen 2026, Galerie Ping Rodach is presenting a solo show by Sam Tho Duong (1969, Vietnam). Jewelry, sculpture, and the body enter into a quiet relationship here. In the series TATTOO, FROZEN, and GINGER, pearls, plastic, and silver become precise forms of skin, closeness, and transformation. Nothing is decorative, everything is physical. Duong’s works appear quiet and direct—sensual without pretense. DSTransform presents jewelry as a contemporary practice beyond familiar categories.
Opening March 4 at 2 p.m.,
exhibition March 5.- March 16 – 16.03.
In KUNZT66, DOMAIN OF TENSION presents three positions that deliberately refuse to reconcile:
Bahlmann stands for jewelry as cultural continuity, as a familiar, wearable form.
Shoshtary—whose artistic signature Björk relied on for her entire visual appearance—unfolds jewelry as projection, myth, and magical staging.
Straube understands it as a figure of thought—as a shift in perspective and a space for reflection.
The tension remains; it is method.

The world around us is changing dramatically. Nothing is as it used to be, and yet everything remains the same. That is why the jewelry and design class is focusing on the theme of change in its exhibition. The works are displayed on various mobile bases that are rearranged every day. Depending on the neighborhood in which they are located, the works can be read and interpreted differently. This also means that the space itself is constantly changing.
„Low Maintenance” is an exhibition by Prof. Pontoppidan’s class that radically questions conventional forms of presenting jewelry and devices. Around twenty robot vacuum cleaners move autonomously through the room, each carrying a work by a student. Instead of static display cases, a dynamic situation is created in which the works elude fixed observation and challenge visitors.

Mirror, mirror…
Beauty, reflection, repetition, fashion, imitation, perspectives, purity… Mirrors – symbols of vanity, narcissism, purity, self-observation. The mirror on the wall told us that Snow White was the fairest in the land. The mirror pond made Narcissus fall in love with his own image and turn into a flower. And Perseus’ mirrored shield was the trick that brought down Medusa. Mirrors and their reflections delight us, frustrate us, attract us, haunt us, teach us, and help us.
