When Sibylle Shueh Oberschelp visits us in the office, there’s something going on. Ideas are bubbling over – life is here. Just the thing for a spring tour. She is extremely versatile and you are guaranteed to have something to laugh about. She is currently giving a tour of the Eccentric exhibition at the Pinakothek der Moderne (see large picture above: in front of a work by Sophia Süßmilch). She presents it in her calendar as follows: “What better way to experience an exhibition about eccentric art than alongside a self-confessed eccentric? Refreshing, extravagant and slightly eccentric, the artist Shueh Oberschelp takes her audience into the world of eccentricity. With a lot of eloquence, great wit and a consistent willingness to engage in dialog.”
“One of the amusing incidents on the tours is when the participants suddenly become fewer because they are magically drawn into an ice cream parlor, or even better, when the group becomes larger because passers-by spontaneously join our group.” Sibylle Shueh Oberschelp
Find out more about your guide here – and ask her about the trick with the cardigan (see interview below)!
Sibylle, I only know you by this name. Where does the suffix Shueh come from?
I’ve been working as an artist myself under the artist name Shueh Oberschelp since 2017 and I’ve been studying at the Munich Art Academy since 2019.
Ah, so the art connection comes from your studies!
I’ve always been close to art; I was a founding member of the Institution of Unstable Thoughts, a German-Ukrainian artists’ group, back in 1996.
You have been working for us as a guide for three years – what do you like about it?
The best moments on the tours are when the participants engage in lively discussions and when there is a lot of laughter – it makes me happy to see how art brings people together.
There’s only one thing that really bothers me – the cashing in.
Where else can I often find you?
I can often be found in the café at the Pinakothek der Moderne – I also work as a guide at the PdM.
So, in the meantime I’ve noticed: Sibylle Shueh Oberschelp is an artist and guide. Is that all there is to it? It sounds like there’s more…
You can book me not only as an art guide, but also as a stylist – together with my sister I run the website www.style-sisters.de, where we offer various styling concepts.
Then I definitely need a styling tip from you for the walk!
My styling suggestions for the art tour: comfortable shoes are a must and a light jacket that can be put on and taken off quickly would be ideal. Also: there are various methods and techniques for tying or wrapping a cardigan. If required, I will be happy to show you these tricks on site!
