City of Munich, Department of Arts and Culture

The City of Munich’s Department of Culture plays a major role in preserving and strengthening Munich’s cultural diversity through its institutions and facilities as well as through funding measures. Support is provided among other things in the form of advice, the provision of cultural infrastructure – also in local urban districts – sponsorship of cultural events as well as cash and non-cash benefits for institutions and projects. Professional artists and creatives are also supported in their artistic careers through the awarding of studios, prizes and scholarships. The funds are made available accordingly by the City Council of the City of Munich.
