Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle

Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle was founded in 1968 and has been located in Amalienstraße since 2002. Previously, the gallery was located in Prinzregentenstrasse and then in Mrtiusstrasse in Munich.
Artists such as Günter Förg, Lawrence Weiner, James Coleman and Thomas Ruff were shown and promoted early on. The gallery became a forum for contemporary art, presenting a number of artists for the first time with a solo exhibition.Rüdiger Schöttle’s gallery work has repeatedly involved major breaks and changes of direction. At the beginning of the seventies, he parted company with artists from the ranks of Viennese Actionism. This was followed by conceptual art, such as On Kawara or Joseph Kosuth. With artists such as Thomas Struth, Candida Höfer and Goshka Macuga, this approach still shapes the gallery’s profile today.
