Francoise Heitsch
Established in 1992, Françoise Heitsch’s gallery can be found in Maxvorstadt, in the heart of Munich. Initially, the artistic programme focussed on regional events and issues with artists predominantly from the local area of Munich exhibiting their works. This was to change in 2005 when the gallery’s focus shifted; ever since then, an increasing number of international artists have been displayed. Amongst others, the gallery exhibits works by Greek artists; since 2012, Turkish artists have also been included into the gallery programme. A strong personal relationship to these regions is tangible due to Françoise Heitsch’s own cultural heritage, which can be directly traced back to these two countries. This was also one of the reasons why she decided to support and make known Greek and Turkish art to Munich’s art circles. It is most important to Françoise Heitsch to present the intercultural dialogue and exchange between her adopted homeland Munich and her own cultural Greek and Turkish background. The artists represented by Françoise Heitsch work with different media, share, however, an undogmatic approach towards contemporary issues. The exhibited artworks reflect individuality, truth and current events and also reveal themselves to the gallery visitor as tools for present-day’s understanding and communication.
