GALLERY PEOPLE
OPENING
May, 9 2025
May is gallery time. Yesterday, Thursday, May 8, the exhibition Unstable Conditions by Alina Grabovsky opened at Galerie J.J. Heckenhauer.
Alina Grabovsky was born in 1987 in Kiev (Ukraine). She began her art studies in 2010 with Prof. Erwin Gross & Prof. Matthias Bitzer and Prof. Marcel van Eeden at the State Art Academy in Karlsruhe. In 2013 she pursued art studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Prof. Hans Ashley Scheirl. In 2016 she was a master student with Prof. Marcel van Eeden at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. She lives and works in Vienna. Alina Grabovsky’s (mostly large-format) paintings are characterized by a fluid character that does not reveal a clear boundary between abstract surface and figurative elements. One rarely finds complete or undamaged figures. Mostly there are only parts of a human body, implied poses or scenes. Some of these refer to everyday life, leisure or eroticism, but the figures/scenes are never fully revealed. The expressive style and provocative use of color further intensify the tensions inherent in these pictures.

The exhibition is open until 28.6. Wed-Fri 12 am – 6 pm and Sat 12 am – 3 pm o’clock.
