Viola Bittl

Viola Bittl, born in 1980, studied with Sean Scully in Munich from 2004-2008 and completed her studies at the Städelschule Frankfurt as a master student of Christa Näher. Following her studio scholarship from the Hessian Cultural Foundation in New York in 2017/2018, she was a fellow at the International House of Artists Villa Concordia 2024/2025 in Bamberg. She was involved in the important survey exhibition “Jetzt! Junge Malerei in Deutschland” 2019/2020 at the Kunstmuseen Bonn, Wiesbaden, Chemnitz and the Deichtorhallen, Hamburg. The Städtisches Museum Engen will be showing an extensive solo exhibition of Bittl’s work with a catalog in 2024. Viola Bittl has been a permanent member of our gallery since her first exhibition at Schellingstraße 2024. The current exhibition shows the results of her Bamberg residency, 6 large-format, 2 medium-sized paintings and 6 works on paper.
