Günther Uecker
Bühnenskulpturen und Figurinen für Lohengrin, Bayreuth 1979
04.07.2025 – 09.08.2025
Günther Uecker died this June at the age of 95.
He was one of the most active, successful and popular artists of the German post-war scene. His name is inextricably linked with the legendary Zero group, and his nail reliefs in particular are highly regarded around the world. Most recently, in January 2025, Günther Uecker’s four ten-meter-high glass windows “Lichtbogen” were inaugurated for Schwerin Cathedral in his native Mecklenburg. Uecker’s multifaceted work includes stage sets and scenic designs for opera and drama. At Open Art 2025, Uecker’s stage designs and figurines for Richard Wagner’s “Lohengrin”, Bayreuth Festival 1979-1982 will be shown in an extensive exhibition. Storms Gallery has worked closely and amicably with Günther Uecker since the beginning of the gallery’s activities and has organized numerous international exhibitions for Uecker in addition to its own exhibitions.
