Eleni Mylonas und Nata Togliatti

Françoise Heitsch closes the year 2024 with the exhibition Eleni Mylonas – Nata Togliatti “Dialogues on Nature”. We encounter figurative representations of animals and plants. Motifs that seem familiar, but this does not mean that their content and context are immediately obvious to us. Dark red raspberries as a symbol of a carefree childhood, life-size bison as a symbol of destructive striving for power and profit – both artists are not so much concerned with a true-to-life depiction of living nature, what we see are rather memories turned into images and visual expressions of a critical questioning of our own position in the world. In their own individual ways, Eleni Mylonas and Nata Togliatti deal with the human being as part of a larger system in which humans, animals, plants and things are inextricably linked. This system is fragile: if one part falls apart, it affects the others. Their works are therefore also a reflection on value and appreciation.
