CHRIS TILLE
Mythos Licht - Traces of Light
28.06.2025 – 26.07.2025
‘Light is constantly changing and that transforms the atmosphere and beauty of things every minute’, Claude Monet recognised. Impressionists and the generation of artists that followed elevated natural light to the status of a myth. The famous masters set up their easels outdoors and explored the vibrant quality of light, for example Claude Monet in Étretat and Giverny or Vincent van Gogh in Arles, where light played a central role in the creation of their groundbreaking works. Photographer and artist Chris Tille used a spectrometer to analyse the unique light along the paths of these painters. ‘These places are transformed into temples of light in which I try to capture the essence of artistic creation,’ says the artist. The results are delicate, wonderfully colourful photographs.
