Great Birnam Wood

04.07.2025 – 09.08.2025

The exhibition Great Birnham Wood takes us into the multifaceted world of the forest, where myth and the present collide. In Macbeth, the forest is a place of the uncanny, prophecy, and transformation. Böhler & Orendt, Felix Burger, and Sophia Süßmilch take up this imagery and bring it into the present, not without questioning traditional notions of the forest as a dark and mystical space. In their reflective works, the forest not only symbolizes the incomprehensible but also becomes a stage for contemporary conflicts between humans and nature, between reality and fiction—a mirror of societal debate and personal transformation. Here, familiar perspectives are broken apart and reassembled. Great Birnham Wood challenges us to question familiar narratives and perceptions, encouraging us to explore the complexity of our world in a new way.
